Jan. 13.
Moby Dickens Bookshop, 124A Bent St., hosts Douglas Preston who signs his latest book “Impact,” 2-4 pm. 758-3050.

Jan. 15. “Taos Portraits,” Encore Gallery, Taos Community Auditorium, reception 5 pm. This is a juried exhibition of Taos artists’ self-portraits. The exhibition runs thru Mar. 1. 758-2052.

Jan. 17. Taos Center for the Arts, Taos Community Auditorium, presents Leo Kottke, 7 pm. Tickets $25 general admission, $22 TCA members, available at FX-18 or call 758-2052.

Feb. 6. Cancer Institute Foundation’s 5th Annual Sweetheart Benefit Auction, Santa Fe Community Convention Center. 5 pm silent auction and dinner stations followed by a live auction, $34 per person. Feb. 13. Fafa’s Furniture & Fine Arts, 311 Paseo del Pueblo Norte, presents “An Evening with Eros,” 6 pm. Enjoy a decadent array of erotic fine art, a sumptuous selection of performance art and lusty libations. 758-8898.

Feb. 17. Who Did It? A Grammatically Correct Book Club meets at high noon at the Downtown Bistro. Featured book is “Inugami Clan” by Japanese mystery writer Seishi Yokomizo.

Call for Volunteers. WellBeing Community Clinic is selling raffle tickets to raise money to keep the clinic going. Tickets are $5 for one or $10 for three. If you can help by selling raffle tickets or buying some yourself, call 613-2941 a.s.a.p.

TAO, Taos Artist Organization, at the Chamber of Commerce in Cabot Plaza, features the works of Lorrie Bortner, Mary Barnes, Dan Cassidy, Josie Lenwell and Zandi thru Jan. 14.

TAO, Taos Artist Organization hosts a Christmas Show at Peoples Bank Southside thru Jan. 26 featuring works by artists Dan Cassidy, Gabe Ramirez, Marjorie Malone, Bev Teagle and Zandi.

Taos Expands Shuttle Service from Santa Fe Rail Runner Station. A Sunday schedule is added to the Taos Express bus service, which connects Albuquerque and Santa Fe to Taos. $10 adult round trip operates Thurs. thru Sun. 751-2001.

Taos Food Not Bombs, meets Saturdays at 11 am at the Taos Peace House and Infoshop, 801 Paseo del Pueblo Norte or at the Laughing Horse Inn. They also share free meals, produce, bread and information every Sat. on the Taos Plaza, 2-4 pm. Everyone is welcome. 505-776-3880.

The DreamTree Project says there’s still time to purchase a raffle ticket for the 1939 Chevrolet Custom Deluxe Sedan. Tickets are $100 and may be purchased at DreamTree, 128 La Posta Rd. Drawing will be held when the 200 tickets are sold.
